River surveys

We have been surveying the Allan Water and its tributaries all week, identifying sites where land management has the potential to help reduce downstream flood risk.

Stakeholder consultation

We have been drafting a letter and leaflet to inform local stakeholders of the proposal to undertake natural flood management on the Allan Water. This is now being distributed to land managers at key locations in the Allan Water Catchment.

Steering Group Meeting

A steering group meeting has been held to discuss the technical details of the Scoping study. The steering group is a source of expertise for project guidance and includes representitives from:

  • Perth & Kinross Council
  • Stirling Council
  • SEPA
  • SNH
  • Forestry Commission (Scotland)
  • Scottish Government
  • RSPB

Contract is awarded

Halcrow Ltd. has been commissioned to undertake a scoping study to identify available options for Natural Flood Management and habitat restoration on the Allan Water. Halcrow have engaged the University of Stirling’s Centre for River Ecosystem Science (CRESS) as a partner in the project.
